The accessible facilities, new equipment and services installed in the Playa Canteras (Tomás Miller street area), will facilitate people with reduced mobility the use and enjoy of the beach in a more comfortable and safe way. The so called "punto accessible" (accessible point) consists of three reserved parking bays next to the beach, ramps equipped with railings to both sides, adapted toilets near the accesses (taken care of by municipal personnel every day of the week between 8:00 am and 21:00 pm), wood footbridges (wide enough for two wheelchairs) that reach the seafront, adapted resting shade area, showers, portable footbridges that connect this area with humid sand area, presence of Local Police and Red Cross staff, and mobility aid equipment for the bath like amphibious chairs, floating vests, hoops... (on free loan, available every day of the week; it must be asked for in the central station of the Red Cross)

This project of the City Council in collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross includes a free of charge service of support and assistance for sea-bathing which is available all Saturdays between 11,00 am and 13,30 pm. It could be extended to other days, in accordance to the demand. The design and creation of the accessible point has been made with the advising of several disabled associations. It has been officially opened a couple of weeks ago (mid of July) by the mayoress of the city, who said that other beaches in the city will offer accessible facilities like this "punto accesible" in the near future.

Within a short walking distance to the "punto accesible" in the beach is located the Hotel Dunas Canteras Salud: a barrier-free hotel designed and equipped having Universal Design and Tourism for All in mind, offering short/long vacation stays and residential accommodations for people with reduced mobility and/or communication impairments.
