Being aware of both the facts that leisure enjoyment is part of the whole human experience and the convenience to provide families/caretakers a break from their daily routine, we have decided trying to satisfy these two needs by developing our Polibea Respite Project.
The whole staff in Centro Dato and Polibea has worked during the last 25 years in the rehabilitation, integration, formation and independent life enhance of severely physically disabled people.
Being aware of both the facts that leisure enjoyment is part of the whole human experience (a basic element in the physical, psychological and social wellbeing of the individual: moreover it's a key factor towards the full integration of disabled persons) and the convenience to provide families/caretakers a break from their daily routine of caregiving, we have decided trying to satisfy these two needs by developing our Polibea Respite Project.
The Program offers opportunities for persons with severe mobility impairments to engage in a program of meaningful social and recreational activities in a secure and supportive setting in order to maximize their cognitive and social abilities.
One of the important purposes of the Polibea Respite Program is to provide families and caretakers of disabled people with the opportunity for periodic relief from the physical and/or emotional stress they may experience while caring for their disabled family member at home.
Out-of-home respite may be a particularly attractive option as it gives participants the chance to experience new surroundings and different expectations. Families are free to enjoy time in their own home without the constraints of constant care.
