NORMALIZATION
What should we, the disabled, do? First of all expose ourselves, go out in the streets, make ourselves seen and demand this normalization to society and politicians through our organizations. By going out and making our presence obvious a shape of our existence is going to be formed in the social consciousness. People with functional diversity used to be kept apart by their families as if we had to be ashamed because of our conditions and I believe that is because of this past situation that complexes prevent us to occupy spaces demanding our rights, the rights of all the citizens. We must remember that we are not the problem; the problem lies in a society whose attitude is preventing us.
We must persevere until a day arrives in which we must discuss or persecute the exception. As a friend of mine in dependent situation usually says, until the driver of a bus does not stop his bus and asks passengers to disembark because the ramp is out of order considering the bus itself out of order, there's no way of talking about adapted transport. And I'd like to add to this: until an official inspector refuses to license a hotel that is not accessible or doesn't have accessible/adapted toilets considering this as discrimination to our community, we can't really talk about tourism for all.
