MADRID TOUR BUS.


MADRID VISION gives visitors the opportunity to take a panoramic trip around the city of Madrid; the fleet is equipped with facilities for wheelchair users.

This is really an excellent option to get to know Madrid 's sights and monuments in a short period of time, as buses run around all the attractions in the centre.

The fleet is equipped with facilities for passengers with reduced mobility  as they have kneeling system to the right of the bus, an automatic access ramp, low floor, and space reserved for wheelchairs with safety clamps and fasteners.

Madrid Vision Tourist Bus Logo. Click to zoom image The Madrid Vision bus is a double-decker tour bus that takes you on a scheduled panoramic tour of Madrid on one of  two possible routes. You may hop on and off the tour bus as many times as you like on any of the routes, or even start one route, and join another at one of the interconnecting stops. The two routes are; (1) Historical Madrid, (2) Modern Madrid. These Routes last some 75 minutes. 

One day or two day passes are available. Tickets may be purchased at any of the following places:
-Hotels and Travel agencies
-In the vehicle itself
- On-line : www.madridvision.es/en/billetes/taquilla.php Madrid Vision website.
- Madrid Visión information points (they are easy to spot as there is an orange billboard outside with a picture of the bus on it).There's an Information and Sales Office located between Museo del Prado and Ritz Hotel (Calle Felipe IV): Tel: (+34) 91 765 10 16.

All passengers are given a map of Madrid , showing the city's main attractions and the different tourist routes and also discount vouchers for visiting museums, monuments, attractions and restaurants.

The 'Modern Madrid' route starts from the Paseo del Prado outside the Ritz hotel. The 'Historical Madrid' route starts from the Royal Theatre (Teatro Real) next to the Plaza Oriente.

Stops located at: Palacio Real, Templo de Debod, Palacio de Liria, Plaza de España, Gran Vía 71, Gran vía 49, Gran Vía 29, Gran Vía 11, Círculo Bellas Artes, Museo Thyssen, Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Jardín Botánico, Museo del Prado, Plaza de Cibeles, Plaza de Colón. Museo Arqueológico, Puerta de Alcalá, Alcalá 37, Puerta del Sol, Plaza de Opera.

Route 2. Modern Madrid. The beautiful Paseo de la Castellana boulevard, where the city changes its palatial look to give way to modern buildings, Serrano street and the Salamanca neighbourhood.
Stops located at: Museo del Prado, Puerta de Alcalá Retiro, Barrio Salamanca, Plaza Colón, Museo de Escultura, Museo Ciencias Naturales, Nuevos Ministerios, Santiago Bernabéu, C.S.I. Científicas, Museo Lázaro Galdiano, ABC Serrano, El Corte Inglés, Museo Arqueológico, Puerta de Alcalá, Plaza Cibeles, Puerta del Sol, Las Cortes.

Whilst you're on the bus, headphones are provided for you to listen to an audio guide that tells you all about the important buildings, streets and other sites that you are seeing. The audio guide is available in several languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese and Russian.

From 10:00 - 21:00 h.

Summer

21/06/06 to 20/09/06

From 9:30 - 24:00 h.

Autumn

21/09/06 to 20/12/06

From 10:00 - 21:00 h.

Winter

21/12/06 to 20/03/07

From 10:00 - 19:00 h.

Depending on the season, services will run from each stop every 10 to 25 minutes.

There is a great program organised called Descubre Madrid ('Discover Madrid'): a brilliant way to learn about Madrid 's history. It includes guided walks and tours of the city, some of them specially designed for visitors with special needs (PRM, blind/visually impaired tourists.)
