There are three buildings in the Park: the first one you'll run into is the reception building. It houses the visitor's information and reception centre, the shop, a workshops room and the restaurant/bar. Entrance to the building is level as it's the inside. You can buy or collect (if previously booked) your tickets at the reception desk (one height counter) where leaflets and maps are provided, too. The bar/restaurant is to your right (one level, no steps) and one adapted toilet is between the reception area and the bar. There's an open terrace, equipped with tables and chairs, offering magnificent views of the landscape.
To reach the second building (known as La Galería) you must take the path (sandy) and go across the bridge. La Galería is a large showroom/gallery where exhibits have been organized with the aim to answer questions such as what, when, why, how and who made the paintings, by means of several audiovisual plays, texts and panels. It features a permanent exhibition of Europe's most important cave paintings through facsimile reproductions: the famous horses of Chauvet cave, the bison on the roof of Altamira Cave, the black cow of Lascaux.. Videos, an exhibition of tools and implements, and even a simulated burial give visitors the chance to find out how Stone Age man lived and expressed himself. Some of the samples have been placed too high for children, short people and wheelchair users to be able to watch them.
The third building is the main attraction at the Prehistory Park; it is known as the "Cave of Caves", a natural environment that recreates the climate of a Paleolithic cave. Everything is set up in such a way that you can observe from close up recreations of the main panel in Tito Bustillo cave, as well as the famous panel 4 from the "Black Salon" of the Niaux Cave and the impressive Camarin of the Candamo cave. Entrance to the building is level, but in the areas where the recreations are set, the firm resembles rocky one, meaning it is not regular, the transition aisles between "caves" feature concrete regular firm. The visit is carried out by the guides, who must use lanterns as the ambience inside the building is the same one as in a natural cave.
The Park will soon offer (summertime) a number of educational workshops revealing how materials were prepared 30,000 years ago and the techniques used to apply them.
