Castelldefels is located at the heart of Costa del Garraf, between the mountainous landscape of the massif of Garraf and the Mediterranean, only a few minutes away form Barcelona and its international airport.
Its extensive urban beach (about 6 kms long) allows for the open air to be enjoyed: accessible facilities include footbridges (located by Calle Olas and Carrer 17) two anphy-buggies (by Calle Perú and Palmeras Square) and two adapted toilets.
"Castelldefells Tourism 24 hours" is an initiative from the Castedelldefels Town Council aiming for the following objectives: help visitors become familiar with the town's historical and architectural wealth and help new arrivals integrate and get to know the town.
Twenty five points of interest have been selected and signalled with information panels, on these panels a code and telephone number from where to get the information are given: thus one can get to know more about the monument or space visited.
The design and development of this project has intended to accomplish with universal design criteria in order to be accessible to all: panels have been installed in accessible to PMR locations and information on these panels is printed in Braille. All other printed materials, such as leaflets and brochures, concerning Tourism 24h are available in Braille.
Some of these 25 points of interest are the monumental sculptures set on the streets, in the squares and parks, churches, parks, "masías" (farmhouses) or the Olympic Channel, which was built for the canoeing competitions of the '92 Olympic Games (a visit there offers opportunities to take part in leisure and sport activities).
